Goals and challenges
The aim of the project was to increase the sales of glasses purchased online by enabling customers to easily and conveniently try on and choose glasses by using mixed reality (MR) technology. The design challenge was to implement smooth face tracking and adjust the position of the glasses regardless of the position of the head.
Solution
As part of the project, we created a mixed reality application in which virtual 3D models of glasses are applied in real time to the user's face. Thanks to face tracking algorithms, the 3D model of the glasses adapts in real time to the movements of the user's head, which gives the impression that the glasses are actually on the nose of a potential customer. The user can change not only the type of glasses, but also the color of frames or lenses. Another important function is the ability to record a short video or take a photo and share it on social media with the company logo. The application was synchronized with the client's existing website.
Result
Thanks to the implementation of our solution, the company managed to achieve as many as 5 extremely important results:
- Increased customer satisfaction: The MR application allowed virtual try-on glasses, which allowed customers to see exactly how the glasses would look on their face, which in turn translated into their satisfaction and confidence in their purchases.
- Increased sales: With the MR app, customers were more likely to make a purchase because they were confident that the glasses they selected would fit and look good on their face. Online sales increased by 17%.
- Decrease in costs: The ability to try on glasses online has resulted in a decrease in the number of returns of glasses purchased online, which has resulted in lower shipping costs, operating costs and costs related to glasses refurbishment. There was a drastic drop in the return rate by as much as 34%.
- Increasing brand visibility: The MR application provided an additional advertising platform for the company, which allowed to increase brand visibility and reach. In addition, there was an increase in brand awareness thanks to photos and videos shared by users.
- Availability 24/7: The MR app allows customers to try on glasses at any time, which increases the convenience and availability of services for customers.
