Goals and challenges

The aim of the project was to train end users in appropriate behavior in various emergency situations. One of the challenges of the project was to make recordings in 360 VR technology, showing in a realistic way the consequences of actions taken in extremely dangerous conditions. Another design challenge was to create the right decision tree in collaboration with security specialists.

Solution

As part of the project, we created a VR application composed of 5 different threat scenarios: hostage situation, active shooter,  bean attack, suspicious letter, fire. Each scenario has been written in such a way that the user can make several choices at each stage of a given scenario. A wrong decision led to the end of the game, but also information was presented why the selected action was wrong. It is worth mentioning that the user has only a few seconds to make the right decision - otherwise he loses.

The application was delivered with 3 Pico Neo 3 Pro VR goggles.

Result

Our solution brought four main results:

- Training in realistic conditions: The VR application allowed for the simulation of realistic emergency situations, which translated into effective training.

- Reaction improvement: Practicing in emergency situations in the VR app helped to improve reaction and coping skills in stressful situations.

- Increased Awareness: The VR application allowed to increase awareness and knowledge about various emergency situations, which in the future will help to avoid or deal with them in the future.

- Time and cost savings: Practicing in the VR app is more effective and time and cost saving than traditional training methods.
