Goals and challenges
The main goal of the project was to create an application that would allow children and teenagers to choose the right career path by getting acquainted with the most scarce professions in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The design challenge was to present the most interesting areas of shortage professions in an attractive and interactive way.
Solution
In order to show the most scarce professions, we used two technologies: virtual reality and 360 videos. We designed 7 VR simulators - each has 3 scored tasks. In this way, students using the simulator can check in which direction they do best and which direction is most interesting for them. In addition, 360 videos have been recorded, which show the nature of 15 different professions. A total of 45 different films were recorded (3 films for each profession). Each 360 video has been enriched with interactive elements that show information about each profession, such as potential earnings or necessary education.
Result
As part of the application, 7 simulators of the following professions were created: artistic blacksmithing, ground and road works equipment operator, crane and transport equipment operator, car mechanic and diagnostician, welder, beautician and electrician. The task of the artist's blacksmith was to perform the process of forging, assembling and welding the metal picture, which had to be painted at the end. In the earthworks operator simulation, the user had the opportunity to operate a jackhammer, backhoe loader and road roller. The user, playing the role of an operator of lifting and transport equipment, could prove himself in the arrangement of loads in specific locations, placing loads at height and operating the crane. The simulation of the work of a car mechanic and diagnostician consisted in changing tires from summer to winter, replacing vehicle parts and car diagnostics. In the welding simulation, users had to make joints and welds and weld 2D and 3D objects. One of the most interesting simulators turned out to be a simulator of a beautician, in which children and teenagers could apply make-up, paint their nails, and perform a hyaluronic acid injection procedure. In the electrician's simulator, users had a chance to try their hand at repairing a socket, replacing cables or diagnosing a fuse box.
